Set oven for 450 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet lightly.
1/3 cup Crisco All-Vegetable shortening
1 cup buttermilk
3 cups Pioneer Brand buttermilk biscuit baking mix flour
In a medium bowl combine all ingredients, mixing well (but don't over do it). Flour your hands and pinch off a portion of dough. Roll it into a ball and then flatten it slightly by holding the mound in your palm and pressing it down gently with the fingers of the opposite hand. Don't make it too flat! Place on cookie sheet, and repeat procedure until you've filled your cookie sheet. Bake biscuits for 11 - 13 minutes. Brush tops with butter if desired. This recipe will make about 16-18 biscuits.
